Fundraiser plans to run the height of Mount Everest for Cardiff & Vale Breast Centre Appeal

James Joseph is determined to raise vital funds for the Cardiff and Vale Breast Centre Appeal, which supported his mother with her own breast cancer diagnosis.

Throughout January, James has been running up and down, Custom House Hill with the aim of reaching the equivalent height of Mount Everest, which is 29,029ft.

The 25-year-old who lives in Penarth, Wales originally set his goal to £500 a target which he has already beaten, but has now raised the goal post to £1,000.

As a full time musician with a band called 'James And The Cold Gun', lockdown has been difficult, however, the challenge has allowed him commit to daily exercise, which has a positive effect on his mental health.

James said: "After a sluggish few months and a very a weird year, I wanted to start 2021 with a new challenge to help get me out of bed!

"This time I'm raising money for Cardiff and Vale Breast Centre Appeal as they did an amazing job taking care of my mum last year."

While his mother is doing much better, James wants to extend his thanks to the centre that helped her through a difficult diagnosis.

James shared on his JustGiving Page: "The Breast Centre at University Hospital Llandough treats between 450 and 500 new breast cancer patients every year.

"At a time when patients may be very anxious they tell us it makes a huge difference to them to have a streamlined service with everything under one roof.

"The Breast Centre Appeal raised the money to build the Centre, which is designed around the needs of our patients and houses out-patient clinics and diagnostic radiology services together."
