Inspired by her mum's battle with a brain tumour, an assistant teacher is challenging herself to take 10,000 steps each day in February.
Brain Tumour Research has set up the challenge to raise money for important research.
Alisha Wilson, from Glasgow is taking part in the challenge with her dog Oslo, after her mum Gillian Wilson was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma brain tumour in May 2010.
Gillian’s diagnosis came after suffering from strong headaches, dizziness, and forgetfulness.
Her GP initially believed the cause to be migraines and stress, but in May 2010 Gillian complained of an unbearable pain in her head and was sent for an eye test and then an MRI where a mass behind her pituitary gland was revealed.
After removing most of the tumour in June 2010, Gillian was doing well until her symptoms came back that September.
After a number of operations and radiotherapy since 2010, Gillian has been left with a number of health issues, including no short-term memory.
Alisha said: "This is a cause that’s really close to my heart. Who knows where my mum would be if it wasn’t for all of the research that has already been done?
"If we can get funding for more research, then maybe others don’t need to go through what Mum has."
