Fans of Gothic horror are in a spooky treat later this year as an award winning performer is bringing his latest works to Middlesbrough.

Raffles, follows the story of the infamous 'gentleman thief' A.J Raffles, has been scripted by Jonathan Goodwin, the latest winner of the Dracula Society's Hamilton Deane Award.

Previous winners of the much-coveted award include Benedict Cumberbatch, director Guillermo del Toro, and recent Middlesbrough Town Hall guests Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton for Inside No. 9.

Jonathan received the special award in 2020 for keeping Gothic horror performances alive online during the pandemic and he is delighted to be back on stage, performing to in-person audiences once again.

Raffles is the highly entertaining tale of the suave cat burglar, A.J. Raffles and promises high jinks and total suspense.

Written by EW Hornung, Arthur Conan Doyle's brother-in-law, the story both thrills and charms in equal measure and promises an evening of chills and spills in the surrounds of Middlesbrough's own Gothic beauty, the Town Hall Crypt.

Raffles plays at Middlesbrough Town Hall Crypt on Tuesday October, 25.

Tickets are £15, including booking fee, and are available here or via 01642 729 729.
