A local school has received a £1,000 donation that has helped it purchase new reading books.
Stanford in the Vale C of E Primary School in Stanford in the Vale near Faringdon, Oxfordshire, has sourced new phonetically decodable books for its pupils following the donation from David Wilson Homes.
To support the phonics pattern they are taught as part of the curriculum, the school’s pupils were in need of new reading materials and the donation from the leading developer has helped to source 400 new books.
Amanda Willis, head teacher at Stanford in the Vale CE Primary School, said: “The children love their new reading books. The scheme is aligned to the phonetic sounds the children are taught in class so it means children can succeed with their reading much more quickly. It was a very kind and generous donation by David Wilson Homes.”
Rob Allen, sales director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “It was a pleasure to support Stanford in the Vale CE Primary School and it’s wonderful to hear our donation helped the school to purchase 400 new books for its younger pupils.
“Aiding the progression of reading and writing skills from an early age is so vitally important and we were delighted to support the school’s plans to further the opportunities for its current and future pupils.”
