Healthwatch Rochdale to prioritise community mental health in 2021/22

Healthwatch Rochdale has announced that it will prioritise GP and community mental health services in 2021/22.

The decision was made by the independent consumer champion for health and social care which the patient and public's voice in Rochdale, Greater Manchester following a recent public consultation.

Borough residents were invited to share their views on where they thought the service should work over the next year.

54 residents completed the online survey, where GP and community mental health services came out as the top two areas.

Kate Jones, Healthwatch Rochdale Chief Executive officer, said: “Our work priorities are chosen based on the feedback we have received over the previous twelve months and the results of our public consultation.

“Our priority areas are chosen this way to make sure we are working where the residents of Rochdale want us to work and that the changes we make to the health and social care system will be beneficial to them.”

Other areas of work identified in the survey that will be carried out over the next twelve months are:

  • Development of the #TogetherRochdale Communications Group
  • Development of Healthwatch Rochdale’s Advisory Group
  • Enter and View
  • Youthwatch
  • Information, Advice & Signposting surgeries

Healthwatch Rochdale will also be launching a new online monthly forum, ‘Healthwatch Rochdale presents an audience with…’.

It will include updates from guest speakers on various topics and services and include a question-and-answer session at the end.
