Helicopter golf ball drop returns in aid of North Devon Hospice

The UK’s only Helicopter Golf Ball Drop will return to North Devon this summer to offer a fundraising spectacle and help provide a lifeline of care to patients and families at North Devon Hospice. On Wednesday, July 31, 2,000 golf balls will be dropped from a chopper onto the 18th green at Saunton Golf Club, giving one hospice supporter the chance to win the £1,000 prize if theirs is the lucky ball that rolls into the hole.
Locals are invited to come and watch this amazing spectacle with their family and friends and can enjoy a BBQ and drinks. All of the proceeds raised will help to fund the vital care provided by the hospice now, in their 40th anniversary year, and beyond.
Lisa Mackenzie, events manager at North Devon Hospice, said it would be a pleasure to bring this audacious fundraising event to locals once more. She said: “We’re delighted to share that our Helicopter Golf Ball Drop will return this July, so if you missed out on purchasing a ball last year, now is your chance. It was absolutely amazing to see the helicopter swoop over the green and perfectly drop the 2,000 golf balls towards the hole the first time around; do join us for this unique spectacle if you can this year.”
As the hospice marks their special anniversary year, events like the Helicopter Golf Ball Drop - kindly sponsored by Hatchmoor Nursing Home - are even more important in ensuring the charity can continue to be there for people in North Devon through their toughest times.
Lisa said: “In our 40th year, we’re inspired by the uplifting care provided over that time. But currently, more people than ever are relying on our care and it’s getting hard to raise enough funds to meet local needs.
“Only with the support of our wonderful community getting involved in events like this can we continue to be there for the people of North Devon caring for you, time after time. At £10 per ball, every pound will make a real difference.”
