Hinckley residents have been asked to submit photos of their favourite views for a local competition, judged by Dr Luke Evans MP.

McCarthy Stone, the developer who worked on Elizabeth Coxhead Gardens Retirement Living, on Short Way, is looking to capture local architecture and culture so it can be enjoyed by its new and prospective homeowners.

The competition aims to showcase photographs of scenery, wildlife, and landscapes taken by amateur photographers and members of the community.

These might be well known views, from the historic Battle of Bosworth site, the local architecture, or a scenic shot from your daily walk around Hollycroft Park. They could even be 'best kept secrets' or have a personal meaning.

Samantha Watkins, Deputy Divisional Sales and Marketing Director at McCarthy Stone Midlands, said: "As the people of England continue to face restrictions due to the pandemic, we will all be spending more time getting out and about in our local areas for our daily exercise.

"A wintery walk is the perfect opportunity to appreciate the landscapes and landmarks on our doorstep. Hinckley and the surrounding areas have so many stunning views and places to visit."

MP for Hinckley and Bosworth, Dr Luke Evans, will judge the competition. The best photographs will be displayed in the show complex at Elizabeth Coxhead Gardens, and the winning entrant will receive £250.

Samantha said: "It is important that our new community at Elizabeth Coxhead Gardens gets to discover some of these for themselves.

"We would encourage people in the town to take their cameras or phones when they are on their daily walks and capture photographs of Leicestershire in all its splendour which can be entered into our competition."

The competition is open to all ages, but under 16s must ask for an adult's permission. Entrants must ask for the permission of anyone who appears in the photos.

Samantha said: "Entrants are also welcome to submit any other images of the local area that they have taken over the past three months for consideration."

The closing date is March 27.

Each entrant is permitted to submit a maximum of five photos. These should be emailed to McCarthy Stone here with 'Hinckley Photo Contest' in the subject.
