Reading FC have missed out on four vital points this season thanks to second-half injury-time goals.

It means they could have been two places better off in the Championship table and seven points clear of the relegation zone as it stands.

Royals have let in three league goals after the 90th minute so far this season, twice while in the lead.

The first was against Cardiff City on Monday, December 11 at Madejski Stadium.

A Callum Paterson own goal and a Mo Barrow effort just before half time saw Royals build-up a two-goal advantage against Neil Warnock's side.

But Joe Bennett's strike on 83 minutes halved the deficit and Lee Tomlin scored in the 91st minute to secure a draw for the Bluebirds at the expense of two points for Reading.

The next came against Bristol City on Boxing Day when Jaap Stam’s side were already losing.

Lloyd Kelly struck in second half stoppage time at Ashton Gate after Jamie Paterson had given the hosts the lead in the 68th minute.

The most recent time Reading conceded late was the game immediately afterwards against Barnsley on New Year's Eve when a 91st minute Ethan Pinnock equaliser cost Royals two valuable points

That was after Yann Kermorgant had opened the scoring for what was then Jaap Stam's side against their relegation rivals at Oakwell.

Reading are yet to score in second half injury time in games this season.

Royals have eight games left to play this season in the Championship.

The first of them takes place on Good Friday when QPR visit Madejski Stadium (5.30pm kick-off).
