Hoylake Masters head to Blackpool for the North West Masters Championships

MEDAL WINNERS: Hoylake Masters on Saturday

Great successes at the North West Masters Championships at Blackpool on Saturday. Hoylake had many entries.

Andy McGinn claimed three golds, three silvers and three bronze, with Chris Garner-Jones taking two golds, including a PB in the 100m Individual Medley and a silver. Three PB’s saw Matt James pick up three golds, as well as a bronze.

There were medals for Connor Pilling, John Palmi, Lee Newcome, Lionel Blinn and Sam Maher, whilst the relay teams picked up three golds and a silver. Warrington Masters were well represented and once again it was Ben Harkin heading their medal count with six golds.

Lindsay Houlston took gold in the 50m, 100m and 200m Freestyle events. Three golds also for Russ Mason, who also added a silver to his tally, with Mark Jones taking two golds and three silvers.

Chris Rix, Graham Padgett and Spencer Glover all picked up two golds, as did Gerald Kelleher who also added two bronze to his tally. Michael Rimmington, Philip Woods, Lynn-Marie Anderson as well as newcomers Anthony Pontifex and Libby Ward were also amongst the medals.

Finally the Men’s 4x100m Medley Relay team broke the GB record, taking 9 seconds off the previous record. Joshua Moniz led the way for Southport with three golds.

He had good support from Sara Long, who picked up a gold and two silvers, Emily Kippax, with a gold and silver, and Mae Addison who claimed two silvers. City of Liverpool’s Katie Moore took gold in the 50m and 200m Backstroke, with club colleague Lisa James grabbing a gold and bronze. Andrew Dobbing of Bebington returned home with four gold medals.

On Sunday at Huyton it was the first round of the Micro League. In an enthralling contest, Bridgefield and Everton tied for second place.

For Bridgefield, there were two great individual victories from Milly Sharratt and an excellent 50m Butterfly win from Elise McGregor as well as some fantastic swimming from Kian O'Rourke who swam three fantastic events and the fast-improving Niko Dorsz. Everton were well served by Dylan Harte, Elise Stamper, William Stamper, Meredith Welton, Bobby Garner, Iris Shou and Eric Bao.
