Huge success for City of Liverpool in Sheffield

MEDAL WINNER: Wirral Metro's Vivien Wilkinson

The opening weekend of the National Qualifying window proved a huge success for our swimmers with City of Liverpool well represented at Sheffield. Dylan Gregory was outstanding with six personal bests, giving him two golds and four silvers.

Joe Ashley took gold in the 100m and 200m Breaststroke with silver in the 50m Breaststroke. Oliver Lambert claimed gold in the 200m Breaststroke and a PB in the 400m Freestyle secured a bronze.

Isla Liptrot finished the weekend with a gold, a silver and two bronze medals and Finn Arnold a gold and a silver. There was a gold for Dylan Madican in the 800 Freestyle.

Kerry Hennie went under the one-minute mark for the first time in the 100m Freestyle, to give her the silver medal to add to her silver in the 200m Freestyle and bronze in the 400m Freestyle. James Graham is seeing his hard work pay off, setting three PB’s when taking a silver and two bronze.

Isobel Liptrot, Payton Chesters and Joni Dunne all returned home with two silver medals, with Lucy Parsons adding a silver and bronze to her collection. George Daintith took bronze in the 1500m Freestyle.

Success also, for Wirral Metro, with Vivien Wilkinson storming to gold in the 400m Individual Medley and Petra Varga claiming silver in the 400m Individual Medley and bronze in the 100m Breaststroke. Lily Horton set a Personal Best in the 200m Backstroke and Tash McDonnell produced a great swim in the 100m Butterfly.

HUGE SUCCESS: City of Liverpool team at Sheffield

Just down the M1, at Nottingham, City of Liverpool’s Max Harvey set a PB when he won the 1500m Freestyle by some 18 seconds. Joel Morley of Southport picked up gold in the 200m Backstroke and silver in the 100m Backstroke, whilst Dominic Workman of Everton had a profitable weekend with a silver and four bronze, one of which being a PB in the 50m Butterfly.

Mark Jones of Warrington Masters travelled to Swansea for the Swim Wales Masters Meet and returned home with 5 golds and 4 silvers. He will be looking for similar success when he visits there again, next month for the GB Long Course Championships.
