Families enjoyed a sun-soaked day filled with face paining and fairground rides on Sunday.

The annual Tilehurst Festival welcomed thousands of people to Prospect Park for food and fun in aid of chosen charity Naomi House & Jacksplace, a hospice for terminally ill children and young adults.

Temperatures soared on what was the warmest first May Bank Holiday weekend on record, with many cooling off with a cold beer, Pimm's and ice creams.

The event in Liebnrood Road, Tilehurst, Berkshire on May 6, offered a host of family-friendly activities, as well as international cuisine served from local businesses.

Musicians provided a live soundtrack to the afternoon's events while magicians and jugglers kept the children happy as they waited for their turn on the bouncy castle.

Families from across Reading, Berkshire attended the day, many with their own picnics in tow to enjoy in a shady spot.
