Braintree council plants trees to commemorate the Queen's Jubilee

As part of The Queen's Green Canopy (QGC) initiative, Braintree District Council has been planting trees in Weavers Park, Witham Town Park and Halstead Public Gardens.
A number of schools in the district have also been involved in the commemorative project.

Cancer charity's Rural Ramble returns to Gardens of Easton Lodge

The popular Rural Ramble on behalf of the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity is back next month.
Participants can choose to walk 10-miles, four-miles or take on the one-mile family trail at the Forgotten Gardens of Easton Lodge on Saturday, April 30.

Doddinghurst Junior School shows support for Ukraine

Pupils at Doddinghurst Junior School wore yellow and blue to raise money for those affected by the war in Ukraine.
The children also brought in donations of essential items that were delivered to the war-torn country by the team at Bonnets Garden Centre in Nags Head Lane.

Dunmow Flitch Trials return after two-year wait

It's an exciting time for Great Dunmow as its historic Flitch Trials return after the coronavirus pandemic disrupted its tradition of occurring every leap year.
The trials, famous enough to be mentioned in Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, are an ancient ritual which celebrates happy marriages.

Clacton care home celebrates Mother’s Day with a Princess Party

When Edensor Care Home residents Shirley, Jean and Ruth asked to be princesses for the day, the team in Clacton chose to grant their wish in time for mother's day.
They were joined by Lucy's Princess Parties and served a traditional afternoon tea with princess-themed cakes.
