Brentwood care home residents enjoy cuddles with baby goats

A care home in Brentwood, Essex, received a very special visit from two baby goats last week.
Provided by leading animal therapy organisation Performing Pets, the baby goats were friendly and docile enough to be hugged, handled and even fed by the care home residents who all quickly fell in love with their gentle nature.

Colchester apprentices encourage others to consider apprenticeship careers

Following on from National Apprenticeship Week, a trio of young apprentices from Essex discuss their experience of working while studying at university.
Having started their four-year level six architectural assistant apprenticeships in September 2021, they are encouraging people to consider taking the same route to secure their own professional qualifications.

Essex charity auctions designer wedding dresses online

Essex-based Havens Hospice charity will be auctioning off ex-display and brand new wedding dresses to raise money to provide ongoing care.
Bidders can bag a bargain on their Ebay listings, and the auctions will be live from from 8pm on Thursday, February 17, ending on Sunday, February 27.

Colchester four-year-old features in children's charity video

Four year old Emmie Gizatullin from Colchester, in Essex, has been featured in a short video to celebrate 30 years of Tree of Hope, a charity that supports children and young people with a disability or illness.
While she is just the size of a nine-month-old, Emmie is a happy girl who communicates who loves to sing and enjoys signing and using her wheelchair.

Essex Dementia patients encouraged to create personalised playlists

From Saturday, February 19, Essex libraries will be offering dementia patients and their families the chance to create their own playlists.
Created in conjunction with the Playlist for Life charity, each playlist will help dementia patients and their families to reconnect using music.
