Ongar Academy student crowned Digital Quarter Final Champion of Jack Petchey's "Speak Out" Challenge!

Sammy Miller, a student at Ongar Academy, was crowned Digital Quarter Final Champion after speaking out about the positive effects of sport in Jack Petchey's "Speak Out" Challenge!
In his speech entitled 'Mental Health in Sport', Sammy said: "If boxing changed Tyson Fury's life, why can't sports change ours too?"

Braintree Futsal youth team qualifies for national finals

Teams of talented Essex youngsters have excelled at the Pokémon Futsal Youth Cup.
While all of the teams performed brilliantly, it was the Futsal Youth U16 Boys from Braintree that came out on top.

Winner of Brentwood Platinum Jubilee art competition announced

Grace Wridgway, a student from Brentwood Ursuline Convent High School has won first prize in a special Platinum Jubilee art competition.
The competition received over 500 entries from a total of 20 schools local to Brentwood, but judges chose 14-year-old Grace's Union Jack inspired portrait of the Queen as the overall winner.

Braintree boy runs 60 miles for Essex horse sanctuary

Oliver Phillips, 11, has taken on the challenge to run 60 miles to raise money for Redwings, an animal sanctuary near Nazeing.
Oliver waned to fundraise for the charity after his mum and dad sponsored Dotty the donkey for Oliver as a Christmas present.

Chelmsford grammar school students win Raspberry Pi coding competition

Year 12 and 13 students at King Edward VI Grammar School in Chelmsford won two prizes at a coding competition with their robot designed to help farmers make smart environmental choices when irrigating.
Students presented their invention in front of a panel of expert judges and received £1,000 in prize money.
