This fortnightly round-up features a selection of some of the news stories from Hart District that we've told about your community that you may have missed between April 26 and May 9.
Police are appealing for information following a spate of keyless car thefts in the local area.
Between Tuesday April 20 and Tuesday May 4, four cars were stolen from driveways in Fleet, Hampshire.
A failed attempt was also made at 4.45am on Tuesday May 4 to steal a BMW from the driveway of an address on Upper Wield Drive, however two men spotted near the vehicle were scared off by the owner.
The two men were described to police as white, around 5ft 10ins to 6ft in height and appeared to be young in age. They were dressed in all black, with black hats, face masks and black backpacks.

The chair of trustees at Blind Veterans UK will be completing two walking challenges before his birthday in July to support the national charity for blind and vision-impaired ex-service personnel.
Paul Luker from North Warnborough in Hampshire set out to walk the equivalent of 70 marathons in his 70th year, before completing his second challenge of walking 70km in 24 hours in June.

The owner of a local café “can’t wait” to fully re-open after a “tough” 12 months.
Richard Withey, who owns Poppy’s Coffee Shop & Bistro in Church Crookham, Hampshire, is looking forward to welcoming customers back inside when they are able to open their doors again next month.

The owner of a local salon has been named as a finalist at the 2021 Australian Hair Industry Awards (AHIA).
Kerry Mather, owner of KJM Salons in Fleet, Hampshire in in with a chance of taking home a prize after being shortlisted alongside seven other hairstylists in the International Hairdresser of the Year category.

Hart District Council has paid tribute to the role of volunteers during the pandemic who have provided support to the most vulnerable residents and communities.
In the last year, more than 1,000 people volunteered over 12,630 hours to help fellow residents in towns and villages including Fleet, Yateley, Hook and Odiham.
Also, informal volunteers in towns and parishes across the area have helped make a big difference to their neighbours.
