In case you missed it: Five Rushmoor stories from the past fortnight

Here at the InYourArea Community News Team we love local and look to bring you as many news stories each week as we can.

This fortnightly round-up features a selection of some of the news stories from Rushmoor that we've told about your community that you may have missed between February 27 and March 12.

The occasion marked the first time the Farnborough Division of Girlguiding has been able to meet face to face since before the pandemic began and it included Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and leaders.

Michelle Richards, division commissioner for Farnborough, said: “It’s great to see girls of all ages together again after such a long break."

Aldershot MP Leo Docherty and Commander of the Aldershot Garrison Lt Col Nick Burley have warmly welcomed the news.

Later this year preparatory assessment will begin with the build scheduled to start in just over a year’s time in April 2023 subject to that survey work.

The club has around 100 members and was established to help older members of the community enjoy playing football. The social function featured dancing to the music of ‘Music City Sounds’.

CWFC was founded in 2019 and the minimum age to play is 50. The oldest playing member at the club is 81 and new players are always welcome.

Rachael, a charity worker, walked the fifty miles in a week, with Olivia, a primary teacher walking it in a month, raising £1000 between them.

Rachael said: "It was tough fitting 50 miles around our everyday lives but it was a reminder that epilepsy doesn’t happen when it’s convenient, for many of us it happens with no warning and with nothing we can do to stop it."

A cheque presentation evening was recently held at The Army Golf Club where over thirty groups were invited to accept a cheque for their share of the collection and they also had a chance to briefly tell the audience how they intended to spend the money.

A spokesperson from Rushmoor Rotary Club said: "This would not have been possible without the invaluable support from many local organisations and charities who come out each year to help us."
