Stefania from Woking wins silver in Toyota dream car art contest

Stefania Lykhman from Woking in Surrey is miles ahead after winning silver in the eight to 11 category of the 2022 Toyota Dream Car Art Contest.
The young winner created an imaginative and colourful dream car called Bubble Paradise. The story behind the vehicle was that in the future, we might be able to travel by the power of our dreams, using transport bubble with whole worlds inside. Stefania’s dream car would mean we would be free to go anywhere.

Record number of sporting superstars celebrated in Reigate and Banstead

Sporting heroes in Surrey were celebrated last month at the annual Reigate & Banstead Sports Awards at the Harlequin Theatre and Cinema, Redhill.
A grand total of 83 nominations were received – the highest number on record since the awards began. Sportspeople, coaches, teams, and volunteers were all among those highlighted as the borough’s best sporting talent.

Knaphill pupils meet inspirational Commonwealth athlete

Pupils at the Knaphill Federation of Schools in Surrey have had the exciting opportunity to meet Commonwealth athlete Nerys Pearce, who led them in a sponsored workout to raise money for sports equipment.
Nerys was injured in a road traffic accident which left her paralysed from the chest down. She wanted to remain active following her accident and since then has won medals in track and field, handcycling, swimming, basketball and weightlifting.

Event to encourage community to help tackle climate change set for Guildford

A global movement to build a community of people to support each other and make changes in a bid to help tackle climate change will launch this month.
Hosted by The Jump, Zero Carbon Guildford and ARUP in Surrey, the event will encourage people to 'Take The Jump' by doing the following:

Sight for Surrey celebrates 100 years with braille plaque

A commemorative braille plaque has been unveiled to mark Sight for Surrey's centenary of providing essential support to people in Surrey who are blind, vision impaired, Deaf, hard of hearing and deafblind.
On Thursday, February 24, Helyn Clack, Chair of Surrey County Council, along with HM Lord- Lieutenant of Surrey, Michael More-Molyneux and Bob Hughes, chief executive of Sight for Surrey unveiled the special plaque to mark 100 years of the charity.
