Reigate dog trainer and businesswoman in national awards finals

A dog trainer from Reigate, Surrey is celebrating after being shortlisted for a national award.

Amanda Childs is among the finalists for the category of Behaviourist/Trainer of the Year in the Animal Star Awards and is absolutely delighted.

Woking sea cadet to receive British Citizen Award

A volunteer sea cadet from Woking, Surrey, is to be recognised at the Palace of Westminster with the British Citizen Award (BCA) in celebration of his extraordinary endeavours.

Anthony Loveridge will be honoured with the BCA, which is partnered with One Stop and now in its eighth year, recognising exceptional individuals who positively impact their communities throughout the country.

Caterham fundraiser announced winner in Dimensions 2021 leaders' list

A passionate fundraiser from Caterham, Surrey, has been named as a winner of Dimensions' annual Learning Disability and Autism Leaders' List.

Matthew Leadbeater was recognised for his work in the category of Local Communities by Dimensions, the UK's largest not-for-profit that supports people with learning disabilities and autism, celebrating the extraordinary stories and achievements of individuals across the UK.

Epsom College appoints its first chief operating officer and bursar

Epsom College has announced the appointment of Ben Bennett as its chief operating officer and bursar. Ben replaces Sarah Teasdale who, after over 18 years’ outstanding service to the college, moves on to fresh challenges.

Ben becomes the college’s first person in the college's new role. In recent years, Epsom College in Surrey, and the wider independent school sector have undergone significant change and growth.

Oak tree planted at Dorking school during Holocaust Memorial

In the week of Holocaust Memorial Day, an oak tree has been planted at a school in Dorking by wartime Kindertransport refugee Sir Erich Reich as part of a nationwide campaign to mark the 80th anniversary of the Association of Jewish Refugees (AJR).

Sir Erich Reich planted the oak tree at The Ashcombe School in Surrey on Monday, January 24 to celebrate the anniversary of the AJR – the national charity providing social and welfare services to Holocaust refugees and survivors in the UK.
