Charity car show and health and wellbeing event

We had the chance to take part in the fabulous Annual Auto Show, run by the Volvo Garage on Wright Street on Saturday, 24th July. There were vintage cars and motorbikes, a Pianola and rides on a vintage fire engine.

A barbecue and raffle, added to the fun and entertainment, which was enjoyed by young and old alike. All proceeds from the day to be divided between the Southport Lifeboat Station and Macmillan Cancer Support.

On Tuesday, 11th July, we are holding a Health and Wellbeing Event at Southport College. The theme of the event is being more active. Our usual range of health and community information stalls will be there on the day.

In addition, we are having a Walking Football demonstration from Southport Football Club and there will be a chance to take part in chair-based exercise and dancing. The Brighter Living Centre are bringing along their Smoothie Bike and there will be samples of fruit smoothies to try on the day.

This event is running from 1.30pm - 3.30pm and is open to anyone in the Southport and Formby area who is affected by cancer. We also have a Health and Wellbeing Walk from 10.30am -11.30am on the morning of the event. Walkers meet outside the Atkinson and walk around the Lord Street area. No need to book for either the walk or the Health and Wellbeing Event, just come along, you will be very welcome.

Did you know that the NHS is 75 years old this month and in order to celebrate, we are taking part in the NHS Big Tea Party on Wednesday, 5th July, from 11am to 2pm outside Caffe Nero on Chapel Street. Do come and say hello to us on our stall if you are in the area. There will be tea and cakes and information from other local NHS services.
