Kyle Mountain Club's litter pick at beauty spot

Kyle Mountain Club and friends took to Ayr’s Carrick Hills to rid the scenic spot of litter.

The group managed to fill a whopping 30 bags of trash, as well as four car tyres, a plastic drain pipe and an aluminium pole.

The operation was supported by South Ayrshire Council who provided picking sticks, bags and transport for the pile of rubbish.

Len Foreman, chairman of KMC, said: “It is nice to see the hills looking pristine for the spring.”

The club plans to support Ayr Rotary Club with their beach clean on March 26.

On a recent outing, the club headed towards the Cairngorms. One group of five set off for an epic 10 hour day, summitted Meall Tional and Sgor Gaolth, with the descent traipsing through snow.

The other group of four walked a section of the Speyside Way from Feshiebridge to Aviemore, wandering through woodland before following the railway.

In Aviemore, a cafe serving hot coffee and cake gave a chance for a rest before returning to base to prepare a communal meal for all.

The next KMC weekend hill walking trip is to the grey Corries Bunkhouse at Roybridge on March 18 and 19.
