A Wokingham school has been shortlisted for an award dedicated to those who excel in sport.

Shinfield St Mary’s CE Junior School in Chestnut Crescent, Shinfield, Berkshire has been recognised for the high quality extracurricular P.E. it offers, the extremely high participation numbers in sport and the innovative ways in which pupils can get involved in physical activity.

People across Berkshire are now being encouraged to vote in the Get Berkshire Active Awards, but the deadline is Friday, January 19.

Councillor Norman Jorgensen, Wokingham's executive member for environment, sports, environmental health, leisure and libraries, said: "As a borough, we are amongst the most active in the country.

"It is great to see that this has been reflected in a nomination for Shinfield St Mary’s for the work they have done to get pupils active."

Priory School in Slough, Berkshire and Hermitage Primary School in Thatcham,Berkshire will compete against Shinfield St Mary's for the Active Primary School award.

This year’s awards will be held on Friday, February 23 at the Hilton Hotel, Reading, Berkshire.

Active Primary School, Active Secondary School, and Community Club of the Year will all be decided by the public vote here.
