An expert speaker with a long and varied career in the clock trade has visited Leicester's British Horological Institute to offer a talk on strikework.
On Monday, September 12, Kevin Dale attended the institute's first meeting after the summer break to give a presentation. Kevin's talk concerned strikework, as this is the part of clocks that suffer most from bad repairs, usually by amateurs.
Addressing the question, 'what made it stop?', Kevin mentioned the usual causes. Members found Kevin's talk very interesting as most had seen similar poor repairs.

They said it was clear that Kevin had a wealth of knowledge and experience and were pleased when he offered to give further talks in the future. The next meeting will be on Monday, October 10, which will be a club night.
The institute encouraged members to bring and present items of horological (or related) interest. Meetings are held at the BRITE Centre, Braunstone Avenue, LE3 1LE, and start at 7.30pm.
