Leicester team win award for going extra mile for animals in need

Local animal charity team Leicester Animal Aid in Huncote, have been awarded the title of Team of the Year in the Petplan and Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH) Animal Charity Awards 2024. The winners were announced at an award ceremony at The International Conference Centre in Telford. The special event was hosted by Maddie Moat.
Now in their 12th year, the awards recognise the remarkable work carried out by animal charities and not-for-profit organisations across the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands who have gone the extra mile to help rescue and rehome animals in need.
On receiving the award, team members Keeley Furborough, Clare Croughwell, Lauren Trapps said: “This award is for the clients, the people we support in keeping them with their pets, which means more than anything to us. In some of the cases, their pet is their only family, their friend, and without the pet they have no one.”
“But it’s not only that, it’s changing their lives as well. The clients come to me and say you’re a godsend and it helps them get up in the morning.”
“It’s a rewarding job and we can’t even say thank you enough. It’s fantastic that they’ve recognised that the work that we do is valued and respected and for other people that are not immersed in the scheme to recognise that means an awful lot to us as an organisation.”

“The awards recognise the hard work and dedication of the volunteers, employees and teams who have played a vital role in improving the welfare of vulnerable animals.
“It was also an opportunity to say thank you to all of those in the animal charity sector, with over 7,800 nominations every individual and team nominated should be very proud of this achievement.”
