Leicestershire traffic: a round-up of recent notices

The following temporary traffic regulation orders have recently been announced:

Burton Street/Mill Street

A road closure is required on Burton Street on March 16 for four evenings (19:00pm - 00:00am). The closure is required from the Market Street junction up to Ankle Hill.

This closure will also require no through access from Mill Street during the works. Mill Street will be closed at the Burton Street junction only.

The TTRO has been implemented for public safety so Leicestershire County Council can undertake carriageway repairs.

The proposed alternative HGV diversion route will be via: B676, A1 Colsterworth, A606, and vice versa.


Stockerston Road, Allexton

A road closure is required on Stockerston Road, Allexton, on March 22 for one day. The TTRO will be implemented for public safety for Leicestershire County Council to facilitate the resurfacing of the road due to flooding.

The proposed alternative diversion route will be via: Hallaton Road (Allexton), Allexton Road (Hallaton), East Norton Road, North End, Horninghold Road, Hallaton Road (Horninghold), Knob Hill Road, and vice versa.


A47 Uppingham Road, Tugby

A speed reduction from 60mph - 30mph and two-way temporary traffic lights are required on A47 Uppingham Road, Tugby, on March 15 for one day.

The TTRO will be implemented for public safety for Leicestershire County Council to facilitate carriageway patching works.


Heathgate Close, Birstall

The purpose of the TTRO is to allow Leicestershire County Council to safely undertake carriageway patching works. The TTRO will incorporate a temporary road closure.

The duration of the restriction is not anticipated to exceed a period of one day, commencing on May 4.


Church Street, Seagrave

The purpose of the TTRO is to allow Cadent Gas to undertake works on a new gas connection. The TTRO will incorporate a temporary road closure.

The duration of the restriction is not anticipated to exceed a period of five days, commencing on May 10.


High Street, Barrow Upon Soar

The purpose of the TTRO is to allow Leicestershire County Council to safely undertake carriageway surfacing works. The TTRO will incorporate a temporary road closure.

The duration of the restriction is not anticipated to exceed a period of one day, commencing on April 25.


Sileby Road, Mountsorrel

A temporary road closure is required on Sileby Road from March 22 for five days. The road will be closed from the junction of Loughborough Road and the A6 slip road.

The TTRO will be implemented for public safety to allow A&V Squires Plant Co Ltd to undertake essential repair works on the bridge over the River Soar.

The proposed alternative diversion route will be via: Leicester Road, Loughborough Road, A6, and vice versa.


Shenton Lane, Sibson

An emergency road closure is required on Shenton Lane, Sibson, on March 8 for up to 21 days.

The TTRO will be implemented for public safety for STW to carry out emergency repairs to a damaged water main and any other associated work to the highway.

The proposed alternative diversion route will be signed on site. Access to properties will be maintained, however, a short delay in gaining access will occur whilst the area is made safe.


Footpath R99, Desford

A public right of way closure is required on Footpath R99 from its junction with Peckleton Lane in an easterly/south easterly direction for 50m on March 22 for up to five days.

The TTRO will be implemented for public safety for Owl Homes and their contractors to facilitate the creation of a new site entrance and any other associated work to the highway.

The proposed alternative diversion route will be around the edge of the field where the development work is taking place and will be signposted.


Newbold Road, Desford

A road closure is required on Newbold Road, at the roundabout with Hunts Lane/Manor Road, on March 22 for up to two weeks.

The TTRO will be implemented for public safety for MV Kelly LTD to facilitate resurfacing at the roundabout and any other associated work to the highway.

The proposed alternative diversion route will be via: Main Street, Manor
Road, and vice versa. Whilst the work is taking place, temporary traffic
lights will also be in use.


Charnwood Street, Coalville

A road closure is required on Charnwood Street, at its junction with London Road, on March 21 for one day.

This activity will also require the use of multi-phase temporary traffic signals at the London Road/Broom Leys Road/Forest Road junction.

The TTRO will be implemented for public safety for Severn Trent Water to facilitate infrastructure repairs on London Road. The proposed alternative diversion route will be via: London Road, Oxford Street, Cambridge Street, and vice versa.


Tinsel Lane, Sheepy

A road closure is required on Tinsel Lane, Sheepy, on March 22 for up to four days. The TTRO will be implemented for public safety for Leicestershire County Council to facilitate carriageway patching and any other associated work to the highway.

The proposed alternative diversion route will be via Burton Road, Bosworth Road, Wellsborough, Wellsborough Road, Market Bosworth, Coton Bridge Lane, Priory Lane, Far Coton, and vice versa.


Post Office Lane, Witherley

A road closure is required on Post Office Lane, Witherley, between property number 3 and property number 19, on March 23 for four days.

The TTRO will be implemented for public safety for WPD, STW, and Hillstreet UK Limited to undertake the installation of new electricity/water supplies and drainage connections.

The proposed alternative diversion route will be via: Kennel Lane, Atterton Lane, Hall Lane, Church Road, Witherley, and vice versa.


Anchor Lane, Coleorton

A road closure is required on Anchor Lane, near to its junction with Nottingham Road, on March 23 for four days.

The TTRO will be implemented for public safety for Severn Trent Water to facilitate a new connection and Glebe Farm Contractors to facilitate a new sewer connection.

The proposed alternative diversion route will be via: Loughborough Road,
Nottingham Road, and vice versa.


Church Lane, Ravenstone

A road closure is required on Church Lane on March 22 from 19:00 to 06:00. These works are weather dependant and may be delayed and carried on to a subsequent evening.

Works take approximately two hours to complete. The TTRO will be implemented for public safety for Severn Trent Water to facilitate maintenance of flood monitoring equipment.

The proposed alternative diversion route will be via: Wash Lane, Leicester
Road, Main Street, and vice versa.


Highway Road, Earls Way, Humberstone Lane - Thurmaston

The purpose of the TTRO is to allow Leicestershire County Council to safely undertake carriageway patching works.

The TTRO will incorporate temporary road closures, temporary 7.5 tonne suspension, temporary prohibition of waiting and loading restrictions, and the temporary suspension of the one-way system.

The works will be undertaken as follows:

Highway Road and Earls Way will be closed between the junction of Barkby Thorpe Lane and Church Hill Road, commencing May 10 till May 18, 09:00 till 15:00 each day. The roads will be open over the weekend of May 15 and 16.

Humberstone Lane will be closed between the junction of Colby Road and the junction of A607 Melton Road, from the night of May 20 till May 29, 20:00 till 06:00 each night. The roads will be open over the weekend of May 22 and 23.

As the works progress, various adjoining roads will be closed when required. Access will be maintained whenever it is safe to do so.

As the works progress, various parking restrictions will be enforced on Highway Road, Earls Way, and Humberstone Lane.
