HAPPY NEW YEAR: The Little Theatre is looking back at 2023

Happy New Year! We hope that you will be making a resolution to come and see us in 2024 - let’s take a look back at what we brought you in 2023! In January we launched the second half of last season with the brave and bold Boadicea of Britannia Street, a tender tale of female friendship.

In February we stepped back in time to revisit classic sitcom The Liver Birds, featuring a NODA nominated turn from Ronnie Orr as the housekeeper Duval. In March our Youth Theatre brought you the atmospheric Wolves of Willoughby Chase, a year later than originally planned so a real treat to see it realised.

In April, there were more nomination worthy turns in The Actress which has seen Sandra Unsworth nominated for Best Actress and Celia Timmington as Best Supporting Actress for their roles as the titular character of the piece, Lydia Martin and her dresser, Katherine. In May, ribs were tickled with episodes of Blackadder the Third. The lead role of Blackadder was taken by Tony O’Keeffe and he has been nominated for a NODA award for Best Actor.

In June, the season closed with our poignant and compelling bar production Lilies on the Land. This has received three NODA award nominations – Best Drama, Best Ensemble and Best Director for Paul Wilkinson. We took a short summer break before our Youth Theatre opened the season with sell out shows of the musical The Addams Family.

ANOTHER WONDERFUL YEAR: It was a year of wonderful and memorable performances at The Little Theatre

In September, Hercule Poirot deduced who poisoned Sir Claude’s Black Coffee – Andrew Sloman has been nominated for Best Actor following his turn as the Belgian sleuth. In October, modern reflective piece Home, I’m Darling gave us stunning frocks and food for thought and then in November, the classic thriller House Guest kept us on the edge of our seats. The Pied Piper opened on December 22 to rave reviews has rounded out another wonderful year.
