Life at The Little Theatre column: A show not to be missed

You have seen us turn our bar into a stage, and now you can come and see our stage turned into a bar for the tremendous Two 2!  You still have until Saturday, November 20 before we call last orders, so if you have not already booked your ticket, you should do it quickly.

Some of our member volunteers were declaring it one not to be missed from their sneak previews of dress rehearsals and our audiences are agreeing.

Last weekend, we welcomed patrons and first night ticket winners to the non-professional premiere of this witty piece that will take you on a warm journey packed with laughs as well as tender moments of reflection.

Our competition winners were treated to a pair of tickets and even met the play’s director, Sandra Unsworth at the interval.

The praise for the two actors has also been pouring in.

Jacqui Padden is a versatile actor who has played many roles for many companies. Most recently at the SDC she was in the 2017 play, The Perfect Murder. She is also a professional actor and in this capacity has previously played the role of the landlady in Two. One regular theatre goer recalled seeing her in this part and coming away thinking it was excellent, but would be even better if she were to appear opposite Ted Bullen.

They were therefore delighted to learn of this casting and were not disappointed, reviewing the play as ‘one of the best shows I’ve ever seen by the SDC’.

Ted Bullen is another familiar face to our audiences and has appeared most seasons in a range of roles.  In our 2019/2020 season that was cut short, he took a lead role in the gorgeous 84 Charing Cross Road.

Ted and Jacqui also appeared together in our 2016 production of Ladies Day.

Their rapport on stage is an absolute joy, and just what we all need.
