We hope you have had a lovely Christmas weekends with your friends and loved ones.

Our pantomime cast, crew and theatre volunteers have had a well earned weekend off and are raring to go again today (December 27) with performances at 1pm and 5.30pm. After this we have 7.30pm performances on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday before the final matinees in the new year.

On Sunday, January 1 there is a 5pm performance and the final show is 2.30pm on Monday, January 2. As well as the phenomenal reaction to the pantomime, we have also had some lovely news at the Southport Dramatic Club to round of a successful year.

The National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) have announced the nominees for their annual awards ceremony which takes place in February 2023. We joined NODA this summer and their district representative has joined us for each show this first half of the season and we have had excellent and thoughtful reviews.

Our Youth Theatre performed The Wind in the Willows back in August and they have received a stellar seven nominations: Best Youth Production; Best Direction and Musical Direction for Paul Wilkinson and Adam Dutch respectively; Best ensemble for Emily Bloom, Evie Twist, Tess Wright (the Swallows); Best Comedy Performance – Evan Thorpe (Chief Weasel); Best Supporting Male Actor – Guy Tatler (Badger); Best Leading Male Actor – Harry Corcoran (Toad).

There were a further six nominations across the first three plays of our 2022/2023 season: Best Staging/Tech – Deathtrap; Best Drama – Blithe Spirit; Best Direction – Sandra Unsworth (Blithe Spirit); Best Supporting Female Actor – Gail Whitfield (Gertrude Tate in Gym & Tonic); Best Leading Female Actor – Poppy Flanagan (Madame Arcati in Blithe Spirit); Best Leading Male Actor – Gary Simpson (Sidney Bruhl – Deathtrap)

Congratulations to all nominees, we are very proud.

It has been lovely to look back at what we have brought you so far, next week we will look ahead to the rest of our season.
