Last week our production of Di and Viv and Rose opened and audiences have been absolutely delighted.

Not only does Amelia Bullmore’s ode to female friendship jubilantly celebrate the bonds we forge in our lives, but also tackles some serious issues such as assault, bereavement and illness with sincerity and sensitivity.

Our three characters are vivid and develop authentically as time passes and experience shapes them.

There are unseen characters who we get a real sense of too: Di’s mum writes to her at uni; Viv corresponds with a social historian she admires; Rose regularly rings home and invariably speaks with her stepfather, Charlie due to her mum’s health.

Viewers do not need to set eyes on these people to know their stories too. The authenticity enriches the piece whilst not detracting from the focus of our trio.

We are very grateful for the incredible feedback we have received from some of you who have watched the performances so far.  

One delighted supporter described it as just what she needed “to touch base with the real world of enduring friendships throughout the maelstrom of their lives.”  

Many others have commented about how well written and performed this and that it has moved them to tears as well as eliciting laughs.

As the play opens in 1983, there is also a warm and wonderful nostalgia to be enjoyed with members and audiences alike reminiscing about their tunes of choice back in the day, or their preferred posters.

Our three actors have flourished under the careful eyes of their directors and this really is a show not to be missed. The play runs every night at 7.30pm until Saturday, April 9.

If you want to follow this touching drama with a classic comedy, then your prayers have been answered as The Vicar of Dibley will be on stage from Friday, April 29 - Saturday, May 7.  

The ensemble cast is headed by Siân Woolley as Reverend Geraldine Granger and she is supported by a holy host of talent!
