Life at The Little Theatre column: Auditions start for Fame the Musical

Live theatre is coming back to the Little! As we announced last week, Fame, The Musical will, all being well, hit our stage on August 24.

Fame the Musical, David De Silva's masterpiece about life at New York's High School of the Performing Arts, has been lighting the sky like a flame since it debuted at the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami, Florida in 1988.

The SDC is proud to be offering young people aged between 14 & 25 the opportunity to be involved in this theatrical extravaganza.

We are looking for actors, dancers and singers to play the iconic roles that have delighted audiences for generations; the exuberant wannabe actor Joe Vegas, the sultry Carmen Diaz a magnificent dancer with a big ego and of course the hugely talented Tyrone Jackson, a talented, black hip hop dancer with attitude. These are just three of the roles on offer in this exciting musical.

We are planning to case an ensemble of up to 20 young people. Those without previous musical theatre experience are welcome, together with the more experienced – what matters most is a passion to be a part of creating an excellent production.

There will be a talk-up at the Little Theatre on Thursday, June 24 at 7pm. Come along to learn more about the show, receive audition parts and have an opportunity to meet your fellow actors, dancers and the production team.

Auditions will be held on Sunday, July 4 at 11am. Rehearsals begin July 8 and the production runs from Tuesday, August 24 until Saturday, August 28.
