All week we are inviting you to the Little Theatre bar for the birthday dinner of Dr Jack Swenson; his first since the loss of his wife Peggy 11 months prior.

Unexpectedly, she is also attending although we know her as Mom, as she can only be seen by her elder daughter Kat who hasn’t been home since the funeral.

Mom needs to fix something to gain her wings and needs Kat’s help as she is the only one who can see her. Also at the party is younger sister Britney, Dad’s good friend Trish who cared for Mom before she passed and Kevin from over the road who Kat may just have feelings for. Britney has some surprises up her sleeve and there is something Trish is not telling Jack. All will be revealed as the night unfolds.

The talented cast, directed by Michèle Martin, each play their part brilliantly, and the intimate setting brings you that bit closer to the action, and each line, facial expression and the nuances of body language. This makes it all the more wonderful when you learn what Mom’s Gift really is.

Mom’s Gift is on from Tuesday, June 7 – Saturday, June 11 at 7.30pm each night.

Next week we will transport you from modern Minnesota back to depression era New York as MMTC bring the classic “Guys and Dolls” to the Little Theatre stage.

Nathan Detroit sets out to win money from Sky Masterson by challenging him to secure a date in Havana with a woman of his choosing and selects mission leader Sarah Brown. Of course, Nathan isn’t a love expert as he has been engaged for over a decade, much to the chagrin of Miss Adelaide.

The show features many magnificent musical numbers including the perennially popular “I’ve Never Been in Love Before”, “Luck be a Lady” and “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat”.
