Life at The Little Theatre column: The Wolves of Willoughby Chase postponed

This week we had been due to present The Wolves of Willoughby Chase courtesy of our Youth Theatre. Unfortunately, due to multiple cast members testing positive for Covid, we've had to make the difficult decision to postpone the show.

The safety of our members and patrons is paramount and we do not take these decisions lightly.

Last week director Paul Wilkinson commented: “This is a fabulous challenge for the Youth Theatre cast, who will each be onstage for the entire performance, playing multiple roles in a superb piece of ensemble theatre. The Wolves of Willoughby Chase is filled with humour, action and bags of theatrical imagination.”

It is incredibly disappointing for the cast and crew, but an ensemble piece really needs the company to all be in fine fettle. We will reschedule as soon as we are able to, and anyone who had tickets will be able to move them to the new dates.

We continue to be very grateful for your patience and support as we continue to navigate this new world.

Next week, we are optimistic we will be welcoming back Crosby Gilbert & Sullivan Society as they revisit the classic The Yeomen of the Guard.  They will be performing at 7.30pm from Wednesday, March 16 - Friday, March 18 then a 2.30pm matinee on Saturday, March 19.

Also at the theatre we have two more shows in rehearsal; both have elements of humour and poignancy and promise to warm your hearts.

Amelia Bullmore’s Di and Viv and Rose is the story of three women who meet at university and stay in touch into their adulthood. Their lives take different paths, and we get to follow their journeys over more than two decades. This will be performed from Friday, April 1 – Saturday, April 9.

Richard Curtis’s beloved sitcom The Vicar of Dibley follows from Friday, April 29 to Saturday, May 7. We will be presenting a selection of episodes that will delight fans and those who are not familiar in equal measure.
