GETTING READY: The Little Theatre at Hoghton Street, Southport is preparing to carry on with their season

Happy New Year from all of us here at the Southport Dramatic Club, we hope you had a happy and healthy festive period.

The last sequins have been brushed up off the stage, and the dame can return to wearing his crinoline in the privacy of his apartment, but the fun is far from over.
We are going to banish the winter blues in style as our season continues apace.

Our first offering of the year is warm and touching visit to the members of a newly formed creative writing group in a village hall who inspire one another to write and perform a play. “The Boadicea of Britannia Street” is life affirming and a comedy that does not shy away from serious issues that affect the characters. It is being directed with dedication and empathy by Amy Palmer-Farrar and will be performed from 20-28 January 2023.

We leave East Anglia behind for February and come a little closer to home as we present the stage adaptation of Carla Lane’s “The Liver Birds” Kate Miles Roberts and her cast of nine are having a lot of fun with the characters and the scrapes they get into over the course of a weekend. The Liver Birds runs from 10-18 February.

COMING UP: The next four shows at the Little Theatre

Our Youth Theatre are staging Wolves of Willoughby Chase from 7-11 March 2023 under the direction of Paul Wilkinson who was nominated for a NODA after directing their last show. NODA nominee Poppy Flanagan is at the helm next to direct Peter Quilter’s “The Actress” which is performed from 24 March – 01 April.

The final play in our Subscriber Season will be Blackadder the Third, directed by Jacqui Padden and running in early May - keep your eye on the dates as this one will be working around the Coronation and Eurovision! Finally, we have our bar production, a second outing for director Paul Wilkinson who is overseeing wartime piece Lillies on the Land from 13-17 June 2023.
