Life at The Little Theatre: It's almost panto time

Congratulations to the cast and crew of House Guest. This thriller had more twists than a curly wurly and was just as much of a treat.

Now, our box office is officially open for our traditional family pantomime. This year we are presenting The Pied Piper which runs from Friday, December 22 to Sunday, January 7.

On Saturday, January 6 both performances (2.30pm & 7.30pm) will have British Sign Language interpretation. Throughout the run of fourteen shows we have a mix of start times, so please visit our online box office to check dates and times, and book early to avoid disappointment!

In this classic tale, we meet the plucky Pippin who arrives in the whimsical town of Hamelin just as it is facing a rat infestation! The townspeople promise to reward this piper if he can rid them of the rodents.

The evil sorceress Sour-Kraut and her sidekick, the repulsive Rat-Worst have other ideas, with Rat-Worst leading the plague and thwarting bungling rat catchers, Blatter and Splatter. Of course, as a foil to such follies we have the faithful Fairy Strudel.

There is also light relief in the shape of Helga Von Trump, the town’s sausage maker and her sons Wilhelm and Hans. Wilhelm is better known as Willie and is known for being silly.

Hans is going out with Heidi, who runs the Bierkeller for her father, the Burgomeister so he can focus on collecting rents and taxes. Pippin is true to his word, but when it comes to paying the piper, the Burgomeister is not and things take an unexpected turn.

This is shaping up to be a stunning show. Visitors to the Festive Fun Day in town last weekend were treated to a sneak preview of the show at the Band Stand and cannot wait to come and see what else is in store!
