MEET THE CAST: The Pied Piper opens at The Little Theatre on Friday

More than half of the doors on the advent calendars have been flung open, lists have been sent to Lapland and sixpences stirred into puddings. If your wish this year was to come and see the Southport Dramatic Club pantomime, The Pied Piper, then you don’t have long to wait until it comes true - The Pied Piper opens this Friday, December 22 and runs until Sunday, January 7 2024.

There are 15 chances to sing, dance, boo and hiss, including two with BSL interpretation on Saturday, January 6. This week we take a look at the excellent cast of this fantastic family classic.

Pippin, our piper, is played by Charlotte Gerring – Charlotte was part of the ensemble for last year’s pantomime and has risen to the challenge of title role beautifully – you may also have seen her taking an excellent part in The Addams Family in August. Playing the Burgermeister we have Chris Gerring – he employs the Piper but is not true to his word.

The real baddy of the piece is Sour-Kraut, played by Karen Nightingall. Her sidekick Rat-Worst is brought to life by Guy Tatler, who also took a great character part in The Addams Family. We have some comic relief in the form of Blatter and Splatter played by Edward James and Bethany Hill.

Donning a frock, and not for the first time, we have Rikki Spofforth in the role of Helga von Trump, the town’s sausage maker. Helga’s sons Wilhelm and Hans are played by seasoned stage scamps Craig Billington and Matty Higginson. Lucy Brown takes the role of Heidi, the Burgomeister’s daughter who is in love with Hans and runs the Bierkeller.

THE PIED PIPER: Charlotte Gerring plays Pippin

Sprinkling her sweetness over the story is Zoe Findlay as Fairy Strudel. Like many of our cast, Zoe has been appearing in our pantomimes since she was a child herself! We would love to see you and your family at one of our shows so why not book now!
