A local care company has been teaching residents how to discuss care options with loved ones.
Home Instead Liverpool South - which is based in Liverpool in Merseyside - has found that a third of adults say they are concerned about their parents’ physical health.
However, 81% were reluctant to speak to them about care.
This prompted the company to take part in Boots UK’s in-store event.
The team went to Boots in Clayton Square to offer colleagues and customers the tools and encouragement to discuss care options with family.
The event gave people the chance to learn how to spot the signs that their loved ones are struggling and when to introduce care.
People also discovered more about what the company’s dedicated caregivers do for clients and their families.
Jan Mitchell, owner of Home Instead Liverpool South, said: "All too often, having the care conversation with loved ones is left until a crisis occurs such as a fall or a hospital visit.
"It’s best to broach the subject early on, even when there isn’t a need.
"That means that if you later require care, you’ve already established what kind of support you want and all you need to do is put the wheels in motion.
"Our knowledgeable team supports families as they explore the care options available.
"We know that it’s a big step, so we work with you to develop the best care plan and make your transition into care as easy as possible."
Home Instead provides care services to adults across South Liverpool, enabling them to live safely and comfortably in their own homes for as long as possible.
Services include companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, personal care and medication reminders.
