A nine-year-old wanted to do something positive, after testing positive for Covid-19 and so far has raised over £2,000 for the NSPCC.

Anthony McFadden is a sporty boy who after learning about Captain Sir Tom Moore in school, was tasked with writing about someone who inspired him. He chose Marcus Rashford and after seeing the work he had done for children, decided to raise money for neglected and hungry children.

Anthony, from Maghull, Merseyside, trained to run 5k on the treadmill, which he planned to do on Saturday, January 30. Having only run 2k previously, he challenged himself to increase his distance in little over two weeks.

On the day he sprayed his hair green to represent the charity and while running, he decided to increase the run to 10k, which took him 61 minutes.

Aiming to raise £100, Anthony has far surpassed his target and has raised £2,172 in total.

He has had lots of support from his school and his football academy, Preston North End Football Club.
