Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) is asking residents and businesses to be prepared for high winds and heavy rain after the Met Office issued weather warnings for storms hitting Kent.
Two storms, Dudley and Eunice, are currently making their way across the UK and are expected to reach the Maidstone area this week. Storm Dudley is forecast to bring strong winds of up to 50 miles per hour across Kent on Wednesday afternoon with Storm Eunice set to arrive on Thursday night, bringing with it heavy rain and winds up to 70mph on Friday morning.
The strong winds could cause damage to property and possible power outages. The council is asking people to plan ahead by ensuring all their property and any temporary structures are made secure or removed, and that they are prepared for possible power cuts in case they are affected.
Vice chair of the MBC Communities, Housing and Environment Committee, Councillor Simon Webb said: “It is important everyone is prepared for the storms ahead this week. Putting plans in place now can significantly reduce the damage to a home and possessions.”
