A local comedian has secured funding from the National Lottery to try and help others improve their confidence and well-being.

Emm Kenny, from City of Manchester, Greater Manchester, is the founder of Comedy Stitch Productions.

The company will be using funds from the National Lottery Community Fund to deliver 'The Confidence Project'.

This is a new initiative to use fun, energetic, creative workshops to inspire people across Greater Manchester.

Comedy Stitch Productions was created after the Covid-19 pandemic meant Emm lost out on work.

She said: "Losing so much work during this time can make you feel like you've lost your identity.

"I wasn't working, so I felt like I couldn't say I was a performer and writer because I wasn't doing it."

Comedy Stitch Productions aims to enrich and empower people from all walks of life.

The company uses film, drama, radio and comedy to help people express themselves.

Emm said: "Being part of a group without any pressure and having the creative freedom to create my own ideas made me who I am today."

'The Confidence Project' starts in May and will run for 12 weeks.

The project will bring people together to create scripts, characters and funny scenes.

Participants will explore how comedy and acting can improve your mood.

In the final week, people will be given the chance to embrace their newfound confidence on screen.
