Masquerade Ball raises more than £15,000 for two Newark charities

The Newark Emmaus Trust and the Children's Bereavement Centre teamed up to host their third annual joint fundraising event which has raised more than £15,000.

The Masquerade Ball, held at Newark Showground, was attended by 200 guests - many of whom got into the spirit of the occasion by wearing amazing, colourful masks.  The mony raised will now be shared equally between the two charities.

Fundraising manager, Rachel Wilson, of the Children’s Bereavement Centre said: "What a night! We are always overwhelmed with the support we receive from the local community but this year’s Masquerade Ball surpassed all our expectations.

"It’s such an important fundraiser for us and we feel incredibly privileged to have received so much support. From the companies that sponsored the event and donated prizes, the volunteers that helped on the night to the guests that purchased tickets and fully embraced the theme.

"Their generosity on the evening buying raffle tickets and bidding in the auction was incredible. A heartfelt thank you to you all. I would also like to thank the team at the Newark Emmaus Trust.

"Both charities support young people albeit in very different ways and it was a pleasure as always to work in partnership with them on this event.  The funds raised from the ball will have a huge impact at the Children’s Bereavement Centre and will help us achieve our vison of ensuring we are there to continue to support bereaved children, young people, and their families for many years to come.

"To everyone involved, thank you for helping us change the lives for so many. We are already looking forward to next year!"

Nikki Burley, CEO of the Newark Emmaus Trust, added: "What an amazing night! We are so grateful to those who sponsored the event; gave pro bono support, volunteered their services; provided prizes for the raffle or donated auction items – and to all those who took part in the raffle and auction.

"We are grateful to so many people for helping us to raise such an incredible amount of money which will fund activities for our residents at the Trust and, most importantly, make a difference in their young lives."
