Melton Mowbray celebrates Great Big Green Week with free events

Free events are coming to Melton Mowbray, celebrating community action to tackle climate change and protect nature. As part of The Great Big Green Week (June 8 to 16), Melton Green Transition and Melton Space have organised a series of events with the message 'Let's swap together for good'.

Paint the Town Green Trail

Where: Melton Mowbray, Town Centre
When: Saturday, June 8 from 10am to 1pm

Follow the trail around town to see all the amazing Green Week window displays, discover new shops and learn what Melton businesses are doing to become green.

The Great Big Plant Swap

Where: The Creative Collective Shop (The Bell Centre) and Bowley Court
When: Saturday, June 8 from 10.30am to 1pm

Houseplants, fruit, vegetables, flowers, shrubs and trees. Visit the plant swap stations at The Bell Centre and Bowley Court to collect plants provided by the community to green-up your home, garden or work.

Green Living Bowley Court

Where: Bowley Court (Off Sherrard Street)
When: Saturday, June 8 from 10am to 1pm

Vegetable seedling swaps, crochet workshops, delicious local food and recycled craft exhibits.

Get Started With Composting

Where: More Coffee Co. Courtyard, 16 Market Place
When: Tuesday, June 11 from 2.30pm

A presentation by Leicestershire County Council. How to get started with composting, what to add and what to leave out.

Waste Prevention; Reuse, Recycle

Where: Lea & Co. cafe, 27 Burton Street
When: Tuesday, June 11 from 7pm

A recycling presentation and discussion by the Leicestershire County Council Waste Initiatives Team.

'Wilding' Film

Where: The Regal Cinema
When: Wednesday, June 12 from 7.30pm

A preview showing of the new 'Wilding' film to be released in June 2024. A prerecorded Q&A will be shown alongside the film.

Vegan Groupeas | June

Where: More Coffee Co., 16 Market Place
When: Thursday, June 13 from 6.30pm

Meet for a shared supper of incredible homemade vegan food. All welcome!

Melton Community Fridge

Where: Unit 7, The Old Dairy, North Street, LE13 1NL
When: Friday, June 14 from 12.30pm to 2.30pm

The Community Fridge takes in stocks of surplus food from supermarkets and other local businesses and redistributes it on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Greening at the Country Park

Where: Melton Country Park Cafe
When: Saturday, June 15 from 10am to 3pm

Cycle repair workshop, green woodworking and toy hospital. Renewable energy display and information about recycling and reusing.
