A West Scotland MSP has backed a mental health campaign for Time to Talk Day.

MSP Jamie Greene is backing Mind's campaign, highlighting the importance of talking about mental health.

Time to Talk Day is an annual event that aims to get people all around the country talking about mental health, taking place on the first Thursday in February.

Jamie Greene has campaigned on mental health issues since becoming an MSP in 2016, including on improving access to mental health services and reducing waiting times for young people, matters he regularly raises in the Scottish Parliament.

Jamie Greene said: “Time to Talk Day is officially one day per year, but every day should be a day to talk about mental health.

“Discussing mental health issues with friends and family can be difficult, but taking that first step and starting that conversation can make a real difference and lift a weight off your shoulders.”

“Many local charities and health services play a vital role in promoting the importance of mental health and, whilst we have come a long way in recent years, there is still a lot more to be done to reduce stigma.”
