Members of the public are being invited to a local abbey to learn about its fascinating past.

Combermere Abbey - which is in Nantwich, Cheshire - will be holding tours through the historic building.

Public tours of the abbey will start on Tuesday, April 5 and run until Thursday, July 7.

They will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.

Combermere Abbey will also be holding three dedicated 'Invitation to View' tours for history fanatics.

These will be held on Tuesday, May 10, Tuesday, June 14 and Tuesday, July 12.

They include a private showing of the abbey as well as afternoon tea with its owner, giving people a chance to ask plenty of questions.

Group tours, limited to 20 people, will be available for arts and preservation groups, historic associations, as well as friends and families wishing to explore the abbey together.

They are private and priced at £10 per person.

Combermere Abbey is based in the heart of the countryside and is a cherished local gem that welcomes visitors from all over the world.

It is almost 890 years old, spanning monastic, medieval and gothic periods.

Following a major 30 year restoration project by the current owner, the estate was saved from ruin.

Public Tour ticket prices will be priced at £10 for adults and £5 for children (10-15).

They will be free for children under 10.
