Hearts and Hands Stafford is a non-for-profit community organisation primarily helping those affected by reduced income, self employed, zero contracts and part time workers.

To help raise funds, the community group are hosting a new and nearly new clothes sale on Saturday, March 26 between 12-3pm at their premises Unit H New Beacon Enterprise Park, Weston Road on Beaconside.

The group is run by volunteers and give food parcels out on a weekly basis, free of charge.

They have up to 14 surplus food tables out at any one time outside volunteers homes, the amount of tables out depends on the surplus food supplies collected from the local supermarkets.

The food is sorted at their unit and sent out into the community for anyone and everyone; retired working, students and unemployed, not only helping people with free food it's saving the food going in landfill.

Collection boxes are at each point so people can donate tins and non perishable goods or money which then in turn go into the food parcels given out.

Recently they have started to run a benefit guidance service on Fridays.

Joint Community Project Manager of Hearts and Hands Stafford Lorraine Conkey, pictured above, said: “Everyone is feeling the pinch at the moment so we thought a clothes sale would be an ideal opportunity for people to grab a bargain and in turn help us with the ever expanding running costs, not to mention the hike in fuel costs we are all experiencing.

“We never charge for delivering food parcels and the last few months we have been delivering a supplies of yogurts donated each week by Staffordshire Fire Service Community Project out into the community, to schools, charities and community groups plus businesses.

“The clothes have been donated by locals and there will be some real bargains even some branded items. The weather forecast look good too.

“We are on the old university site in a standalone building so why not pop down and have a browse.”

The unit is open for new and nearly new washed clothing donations, tins and non perishable item in date, sanitary products and pet food on Tuesdays and Fridays 10.30am-2.30pm.

Larger household items cannot be stored but email and if there is a family in need, arrangements can be made.

Hearts & Hands tin drop off points are in Dunelm, the railway station and The Butler's Bell.
