New chief inspector for Macclesfield Police
David Moores takes the job and says tackling county lines drug dealers is his top priority
MACCLESFIELD police has a new Chief Inspector who says tackling county lines crime is among his priorities.
David Moores has taken on the role having previously served as a detective inspector for Cheshire Police and before that as an officer for Greater Manchester Police for 20 years.
His top issue is cracking down on drug dealers from cities such as Manchester and Liverpool who are seeking to expand their networks into Macclesfield.
Other priorities include domestic abuse and rural crime such as the theft of agricultural machinery.
One of Chf Insp Moores first acts in the job was to meet Macclesfield MP David Rutley over Zoom.
After the meeting Mr Rutley said: "I am very grateful to Chf Insp Moores and all his team for the vital work that they are doing day in day out in our local areas, particularly over these challenging months.
"I have seen first-hand on many occasions how our local police officers and PCSOs work tirelessly to protect local residents and keep our communities safe - they deserve our full support in these unprecedented times."
