A local Scout is raising money to fund his trip to the 25th World Scout Jamboree in South Korea.
Matthew Prior, a student at Ormiston Victory Academy, Costessey, Norfolk, was chosen along with a select number of Scouts as part of the UK contingent.
The Jamboree is set to take place in the summer of 2023.
It happens once every four years and sees around 40,000 Scouts from all over the world come together.
They take part in activities and have the chance to experience different cultures.
Matthew said: “I am honoured to have been given such an unbelievable opportunity to attend the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea.
"Everyone at Ormiston Victory Academy has been so supportive of my fundraising so far, I want to say a huge thank you to them all."
Matthew is currently undertaking his Young Leader training whilst volunteering at Bowthorpe Cubs.
The Young Leaders’ Programme gives aspiring future Scout leaders the skills and knowledge to support their section’s leadership team.
Matthew is currently in the process of organising a sponsored walk and, with the support from Bowthorpe Scout Group, a family bingo event.
Naomi Palmer, Principal at Ormiston Victory Academy, said: “We are all incredibly proud of Matthew for having been selected for such an amazing and invaluable experience.
"At Victory, we aim to empower our students to pursue their dreams and Matthew has been a shining example of how his high ambition and determination has led to great success."
