The National Literacy Trust are set to benefit from a much-needed donation thanks to the fundraising efforts of a Northwich woman.

Alison Jones set herself a target of running every day for 1,000 days and on February 24, she is set to reach the milestone.

Her running streak began on her 49th birthday (June 1 2018) and since then she has completed at least 2km every day.

By the end of February, she will have covered well over 2,000km, which is the equivalent distance of her running from her home in Winnington, Northwich, to the Spanish capital, Madrid.

Alison, 51, said that posting a picture on social media each day has kept her motivated to go for her runs.

She is also grateful for all the support she's received from friends, encouraging her to put on her running shoes, even when she didn't feel like it.

Alison reached her £1,000 target back in November and has now raised nearly £3,000 for the National Literacy Trust.
