Manchester City are desperately defending a corner during the 2-2 draw against Everton in the FA Cup quarter-final at Goodison Park.

Nicky Reid is jumping for the ball with ‘keeper Joe Corrigan while midfielder Gerry Gow is minding the goal-line.
Gow scored for City during the hard-fought match with the other goal coming from Paul Power.
City won the replay at Maine road 3-2, and beat Ipswich Town 1-0 in the semi-final to face Tottenham in the final at Wembley. After drawing 1-1, the Blues lost the replay 3-2.

Fashion icon George Best welcomes actress Juliet Mills to his Manchester boutique where she’s trying on a trendy toreador jacket.
Mills was in the city to appear in the stage play She Stoops to Conquer.
She confessed to being a Manchester United fan but never got the chance to see them in action.
United winger Best quickly put that right by swapping an Old Trafford ticket for a theatre seat to see Mills – so both ended up happy!

An RAF Avro Vulcan bomber touches down using its parachute air brake at Woodford Aerodrome.

On board were Minister of Supply Duncan Sandys and Air Chief Marshall Sir John Wakeling.
The delta-wing Vulcan was the backbone of Britain’s airborne nuclear deterrent for much of the Cold War, remaining in service from 1956 to 1984.
Capable of carrying out conventional bombing missions, the Vulcan was used to help retake the Falkland Islands in 1982.
