Stars from the hugely popular 1980s TV series The Kids from Fame land in the UK before performing at the Manchester Apollo.

Pictured are Lee Curreri, left, who played musician Bruno, and Gene Anthony Ray who was dancer Leroy.
The TV show, a spin-off from the 1980 movie Fame, portrayed life in the New York City High School of Performing Arts.
Familiar songs from Fame on the Manchester playlist included Hi-Fidelity, We Got the Power, Mannequin and the Fame theme tune itself.

1965
March 25
Manchester United winger George Best takes a phone call before the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United at Hillsborough.
The hard-fought match ended in a 0-0 draw, but Leeds won the replay at Nottingham’s City Ground 1-0 thanks to a goal from Billy Bremner in the 89th minute.
Northern Ireland international Best firmly established himself in the first team during the 1964-5 season.
He went on to make 361 league appearances for United, scoring 137 goals.
1965

Pictured at the film premiere of The Intelligence Men at the Odeon, Manchester, are Joan Morecambe, top, and Doreen Wise – the wives of comic duo Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise.

Eric and Ernie were the stars of the James Bond spoof movie which also featured William Franklyn, April Olrich and Warren Mitchell.
The screenplay was by Sid Green and Dick Hills who worked with Morecambe and Wise for more than a decade, producing some of their most memorable TV sketches.
