Nottingham CityCare, the city’s largest provider of NHS community health services, celebrated 42 long-serving staff members who have clocked up more than 500 years of service between them. The event recognised and celebrated the careers of staff members who had reached 20, 25, 30, and 40 years of continuous service for the NHS.
This year’s longest serving staff member was community public health nurse Betty Murray (pictured below, in the centre, with Sherry Malik, Chair (left) and Lou Bainbridge, Chief Executive (right)), celebrating 43 years of continuous service in the NHS. Betty began her career as a Domestic Cleaner and Housekeeper at Sheffield Nether Edge Hospital in 1981, before working as a Nursing Auxiliary at Nottingham City Hospital. In 2009, Betty joined Nottingham CityCare as a community nurse, qualifying to become a district nurse in 2013.

In her time at the organisation, Betty has worked in the integrated care homes team, and 0-19 Services after she retired and returned to work in 2021. Betty said: “It was a wonderful day and I feel so honoured to be recognised. It has been a great privilege to meet and see so many different professionals, many of whom I had worked with in the past.”
The event was hosted by Chief Executive Lou Bainbridge and Chair Sherry Malik at Nottingham City Council House. Sherry said: “It is a joy to recognise the dedication of our long-serving staff members, and to thank and celebrate them at this special event.”
During the ceremony attendees were presented with a certificate of recognition, and a commemorative length of service trophy.
