Evan Lord is congratulated by Ryan Metters, Deputy Head High Pavement Sixth Form
Evan Lord, an 18-year-old from Mansfield, is one of only five successful applicants out of 500 nationwide to secure a Solicitor Degree Apprenticeship with a prestigious international law firm. Currently studying A-Level Law, English Literature, and Physical Education at Nottingham College’s High Pavement Sixth Form, Evan faced a setback when his initial plan to study law at the university was rejected.
However, he remained determined to pursue his dream of becoming a lawyer. Reflecting on his journey, he said: "Everyone faces setbacks, but what matters is how you pick yourself back up and keep going.
"The staff at High Pavement have been incredibly supportive throughout. Whether it was help with applications, interview preparation, course feedback, or just a general chat, there was always someone willing to help. I wouldn't be where I am now without the team at the college.
"Moving from Mansfield to London will be a big change, but college has prepared me well. I'm excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
"When I travelled to London for my interview, I felt right at home as soon as I walked into the office, where I'll be working four days a week. I'm grateful to the college and my family for their encouragement and confidence in me."
Evan will be sitting his A-Level exams in the coming weeks and is set to make his big move to London in August. He will work alongside experienced lawyers four days a week in the bustling London offices, while spending one day a week at university to complete his Level 7 Solicitor Degree Apprenticeship.
